FlyEgypt plans Luxor – Kuwait City launch from mid-May 2020

FlyEgypt from mid-May 2020 plans to offer new route to Kuwait, with service offering on Luxor – Kuwait City route. Originally planned to commence on 17APR20, this route is now scheduled to begin on 15MAY20. Boeing 737-800 operates this route twice weekly.

Planned launch date remains subject to change, due to ongoing situation. The airline last week announced extension of scheduled service suspension until 07MAY20 inclusive.

Malaysia Airlines plans Majalengka service from late-June 2020

Malaysia Airlines from late-June 2020 plans to operate Kuala Lumpur – Majalengka (Kertajati) route, replacing service to Bandung. The oneWorld carrier currently plans to operate this route twice weekly from 22JUN20, on board Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Reservation remains open at time this post goes to press, despite majority of Malaysia Airlines’ regular International service is scheduled to resume by July 2020.

Air France delays Chennai launch to late-Oct 2020

Air France last month (April 2020) revised planned service launch on Paris CDG – Chennai route, previously scheduled to commence on 15JUN20. Scheduled as 3 weekly flights, service will now commence on 27OCT20, instead of 15JUN20.

Planned service is operated by Boeing 777-200ER aircraft during winter season.

Xiamen Airlines removes planned Fuzhou – Sydney resumption from late-June 2020

Xiamen Airlines in recent schedule update removed Fuzhou – Sydney service, previously scheduled to resume on 30JUN20. The Skyteam member originally planned 3 weekly flights during Northern summer season, with Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Schedule listing also removed for Northern winter season from 25OCT20.

Vietnam Airlines plans Hangzhou service from July 2020

Vietnam Airlines in July 2020 plans to offer Ho Chi Minh City – Hangzhou service, based on recent schedule filing. The filing sees the airline schedules 4 weekly flights from 02JUL20, on board Airbus A321 aircraft.

Thai Smile files Xiamen schedule in S21

Thai Smile in preliminary summer 2021 season schedule filed Bangkok – Xiamen route, effective from 28MAR21. This would see the airline replacing Thai Airways International’s service, based on preliminary listing. Thai Smile intends to serve this route 4 times weekly, with A320.

Saudia schedules one-time Australia charter in mid-May 2020

Saudia later this month plans one-time charter flight to Australia, where the airline plans to operate Riyadh – Sydney – Dammam – Riyadh routing on 13-14MAY20. 290-seater 3-class 777-300ER to operate this route. Flying distance for Riyadh – Sydney sector is 7993 miles, Dammam – Sydney is 7830 miles.

Based on published schedule, flying time from Sydney to Dammam is 15hrs 40mins. The airline initially planned to operate Riyadh – Sydney nonstop sector, which would see up to 16 hours flying time from Sydney to Riyadh.

Air India May 2020 Preliminary International Network as of 03MAY20

Air India in the last few days filed preliminary International operation for the month of May 2020, which sees initial reduced frequencies on selected routes when it resumes operation. As India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced extended scheduled service suspension until 17MAY20, the following preliminary schedule is effective 18MAY20 – 31MAY20, as of 03MAY20 OAG schedules.

Additional changes remain likely in the next few days, reflecting projected demand as well as on-going travel restrictions in various countries.
