This day in history...Feb 2

A look back in history with a very west coast of America feel to it.

1951 is our starting point for today and the first flight of the DC6B from the Douglas factory in Long Beach California.

The first of a double for San Francisco next when in 1954 JAL made SFO it's first international destination.

Next we have quite a weird looking aircraft in my opinion and one initially produced for the military as can be seen in the picture. 1961 saw the first commercial use of the de havilland DHC4 Caribou.

Back to both the west coast and San Francisco now and another airline choo

sing SFO for a landmark destination. This time it was China Airlines first Trans Pacific route in 1970.
