This day in history...Jan 8

The first blog of 2021 and we start off way back in 1959 and a type of design that will never been seen again. This shape had never been anywhere near a CAD program!!

The wonderfully bulbous Armstrong Whitworth AW.660 Argosy made its first flight in this year. Take a look at the end of this blog for a special offer on my book 'Flying Firsts' with much more about aircraft first flights.

Nearly 40 years later in 1998 Boeing surprised the industry by continuing production of the MD95, albeit under a new designation, the Boeing 717

A previous MD operator, BritishJet, ceased operations this day in 2008.

As mentioned earlier, if you are interested in getting hold of a copy of my book 'Flying Firsts' detailing maiden flights of over 120 aircraft along with a brief history, then click on the image below or HERE for more information. To obtain a signed copy at a discount price of £12.50 + p&p, all you need to do is contact me directly through any channel (you need to let me know who to sign it too!) and quote 2021BLOG18
