Singapore Airlines was established in 1972 after the splitting up of Malaysia Singapore Airlines (MSA)
20 years later another airline is established. This time as a result of the break up of the Soviet Union. Uzbekistan Airways was formed out of the bones of the Uzbekistan division of Aeroflot.
